Lena h. COMS Les Trois Glaucés

Lena h. Coms lost his works in a fire, especially those on Glaucé. She therefore performs with the dress of Patrick Arman SAVIDAN which she dresses with one of her texts: Les Deux Glaucée. This poetic and theatrical text intersects the destinies of Elena Vladimirovna Maïrova (May 30, 1958 - August 23, 1997) and Martha Mansfied (July 14, 1899 - November 30, 1923). Two actresses who died in the conflagration of their dresses.

Lena h. Coms wears a tunic embroidered by Patrick Arman Savidan.

...she was seized, and wrapped in a veil full of artifice;... Euripides, Medea, scene XIX-circa 1158-

In Euripides; Greek tragedy, Medea, (431 BC), the murder of Creüse is located in scene XIX - around 1116-1235 - the tragic episode treated by the author is inspired by the myth of Medea, who betrayed her father and killed her brother to help Jason, whom she is in love with, to regain his throne. But Jason repudiates Medea to marry Creüse daughter of Creon, king of Corinth. Medea, outraged, repudiated, driven out, decomposed by pain, prepares her revenge. Euripides takes advantage of this, in the tragedy, to denounce the difficult condition of the foreigner and the submissive wife in the society of Corinth. In his address to the choir, “Women of Corinth”, pronounced by Medea, Euripides seals the fate of oppressed women: “Woman is always full of fear, bad at wrestling and iron; but when injustice reaches him in his bed, there is no more bloodthirsty spirit”. Medea plots her revenge. She has a poisoned robe brought to Créüse. Between the fibers of flax and sisal, between the warp and the weft, in the dyes of the wools and the mirror of the glass are hidden the colchicum, the doryknion, the cantharide, the buprestis, the aconite, the hemlock, the yew whose devastating effects will inflame the entire body of Creüse. This fire, a weapon of crime with devastating power, will spread to King Creon, then to the palace of Corinth. All is said. Creüse's dress, a devouring envelope, is embroidered with the names of poisons written in ancient Greek. Having become signs, ornaments, ornaments, the letters diverted from their first readability, metamorphosed into illusory designs, carry within them the radicality of an invisible violence which proceeds from a criminal destruction. The Greek theater was able to put at a distance, off stage, the monstrosity of the act nourished by myth, and by extension its moral ugliness. Our society unfortunately reveals, in broad daylight, identical shortcomings, without literature, without poetics of the verb: the barbaric act is anchored in our lives, the face of poison has changed.

Repudiated by Jason, Médée offers a poisoned dress to her rival Glaucée, Jason's new wife. Closer to home, in the 20th century, two actresses, one American, the other Russian, were burned to death by their dresses. Split character, like the actor and his double... Elena Vladimirovna Maïorova, Russian theater and cinema actress, was born on May 30, 1958 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, she died on August 23, 1997 in Moscow in tragic circumstances. For unclear reasons, her dress catches fire in the stairwell of her apartment building. Transformed into a living torch, she crosses the esplanade which separates her building from the artists' ; entrance to the Théâtre d'Art, where, calling for help, she loses consciousness. Her synthetic clothes melt on her, causing burns over 85% of the surface of her body. She is rushed to the Skifossovski Institute without being able to be saved. Martha Mansfied (July 14, 1899 – November 30, 1923) was an American actress of mut cinema and Vaudeville plays. On November 30, 1923, while filming The Warens of Virginia, a smoker from the film crew threw a match on the film set and set fire to the actress' ; costume, a wartime period costume. of Secession. She died less than twenty-four hours later in the San Antonio hospital. Augmented and performed text for the collective exhibitionThe feminine in creation myths.

Performance text:

The three Glauce(s)

— Today is May 30, 1958. My name is Elena Vladimirovna Maïrova. I am Russian. Today I received a poisoned wedding dress.

“Today is November 30, 1923. My name is Martha Mansfield. I am American. Today I received a poisoned wedding dress.

"Why are we getting married at the end of the month ;

- I do not like the thirty.

— What is this cold war that separates us? We are just actresses. Don't blame us… It was just a joke. Films in Russian, silent films.

Why are you mad at Medea ;

“Don't giggle when you hear my name. It's not funny, I'm on fire. Come rather extinguish me while I consume myself. I am not a phoenix. It's not true, you were lied to. Put out that cigarette, since I died alive, I hate smoke. My nylon stockings burn me, there, in the crotch. What is this sudden heat, menopause? Are we that old? Really, I didn't see the time passing.

- For unclear reasons, in the stairwell of my building, my dress suddenly caught fire. I went through the artists' entrance like a bright torch.

- Help ! Help ! Stop that bastard!

- Where is he ?

- In my arms…

Synthetic clothing isn't terrible, it's beautiful, it's not expensive, but it's not practical. Martha, take only cotton, believe me, it's much better.

— You know, Elena, we don't wear bakelite yet, it's good for vinyl...

It was war in my costume, the Secession. It's crazy how quickly the Secession burns down. We do nothing, and it goes up in smoke. A cigarette thrown out of the blue, it seems. I have since quit smoking.

— It's not just public places that should be smoke-free, the street too. It's so dangerous to live.

- Set fire to the stage, you speak!

— Two bright lights a few years apart. Medea even survives time. The daughter of the sun is very strong, very very strong… (she smokes and puffs a cigarette)

My name is Lena h. Coms, on February 10, 2021, my apartment caught fire. My work was consumed, almost everything burned, my penatestayed.

I was working (in painting) on the portrait of Glaucé, without being completely satisfied.

I wasn't wearing a dress, I didn't burn.

There is a lot to (re)start. I am going to recreate, I am the bearer of my knowledge and my know-how.

What was before was very good, what will come will be even better.

Thank you all for your support.

I am a phoenix.
