Thaon. Lena h. Coms exhibits his works

The visual artist Lena h. Coms is exhibiting its creations until Sunday, at the Espace culturelle Michel-Frérot, as part of the partnership between the municipality and the Métamorphose association. Member of this association, which aims to promote gender-neutral art, Lena h. Coms is invited to exhibit solo.

The visual artist starts from mythological subjects to explore, via paintings, drawings, linocuts, plastic and sound installations, the first woman, Eve and the couple who could be Adam and Eve or Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene.  I have worked a lot on these two series for two years. After a fire, I lost everything. This exhibition is possible thanks to people who supported me. "

The public opening will take place this Tuesday, at 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. An opening reception is offered on Friday, at 6 p.m., and a graphic novel workshop by the artist The Grunge Fairy, on Sunday, from 2 p.m.

From Tuesday September 12 to Sunday September 17, exhibition In Search of Eden, 3, rue du Val-Amphyre.

La Menuiserie is hosting an exhibition of eight artists, in Clécy (Calvados), in Normandy Switzerland. The expression “To the letter” was the basis of their exhibited work. For each artist, a memory, an observation, a letter, a text, a name triggered their inspiration. There we find surprising, poetic, delicate works that give free rein to the imagination and daydreaming.

Five artists were present at the opening of  To the letter . The exhibition is presented by the Caen association Dire AutRemenT, Saturday afternoon March 18, 2023, atCarpentry, in Clécy (Calvados), in Normandy Switzerland, near Falaise.

It's important not to show the same thing, for artists, their works are a bit like their little ones , introduces the president of Kalbass’art, Jean-Paul Delahaye.

The president of Dire AutRemenT, Gaëlle Tollitte, presented the genesis of the exhibition A la lettre: it is a call for projects bringing together amateur or non-amateur artists each year on a given theme , explains the president.

Transmission, escape, questioning…

Léna H Coms presents two works, Nisi Dominus, Psalm 126, based on the work of Vivaldi who inspired me for these nine panels like the nine movements. I painted while listening to Vivaldi  , relates the artist.

Another work, Waiting for Penelope, is an installation where one can wait for Ulysses while reading, resting on cushions. A place of meditation , comments the artist.

Gaëlle Tollitte, alias Allëge, presents two sculptures, made with recovered masks, Mal Masqué. During confinement, going out without a mask, I realized that I was scaring people. Obeying the letter, how far were we prepared to go? These masks are the expression , expresses Allëge.

The mobile of Martine Danoy, far from her children and grandchildren, calls out. She placed at the base of each suspension, a ring containing a word of affection intended for her grandchildren.  The rings of carrier pigeons conveyed messages , reports the artist.

For the artist Kayasky, the letter A stood out and takes a prominent place in his painting.

Marité Gendront’s embroidered paintings are “a treasure that tells the story of my mother. For her, To the letter meant reproducing with care. I appropriated his embroidery, to come out of the dark, out of the drawer, to find freedom and creativity,” explains the artist.

The letter was the revelation for Chantal Durand, Letter and synchronicity,  a letter, found in an old trunk, from my mother Édith to my father, Paul, where the subject was the choice of my first name » _22200000-0000-0000 -0000-000000000222_. A find which gave rise to the creation of an installation where Hebrew letters play a determining role.

[...] Léna h. Coms, painter, visual artist, and the third artist in the exhibition, says she is inspired by “women and myths.” «I work in series,» she adds. For a month the series on Eve containing paintings exploring the relationship to desire, temptation and guilt is visible in the Mondeville animation hall.

The public can «come in, settle down, knit»
The series on Penelope is also accessible but is different. It is a «plastic device», more precisely a yurt representing «Penelope who, queen in the Odyssey, becomes nomadic», indicates the artist. This work is interactive since the public can «come in, settle down, knit and listen to an album made with the association NAOS and the artist Rice'ohm», concludes Léna h.coms

The public is already conquered. Lilie-Rose, a spectator who came to admire the exhibition, said she appreciated the «thread that can be associated with the feminine», as well as the «diversity of installation and visual universe» of which

«multisensory experience» from the yurt.

Bonus: a meeting with the three artists takes place during the inauguration on Friday, March 10, at 7 pm. [...]

“It’s a collective installation,” explains Léna h. Coms, which presents a tent dedicated to a certain “Pénélope”. “Pénélope is a theme that I pursue in several plastic installations. She is a strong, creative, very intelligent and very cunning woman. In this bivouac, I wanted to take it out of its usual context. »

“Little effort is usually made to bring this art to the general public. However, this art is of our time and means something. The town hall and its services gave us carte blanche, as did the choice of artists. Art allows us to exchange,” explains Martine Baransky, curator of the exhibition. [...]

"The artists engage in an active approach to artistic production in heritage sites, different, atypical, chosen by elected officials for the occasion. At the heart of this system, 14 places and 30 visual artists, photographers, performers, sculptors... who have carte blanche and who, for some, to energize their performances, have chosen to synchronize a team of speakers, musicians, videographers around their work."
